台風が過ぎ、急に寒くなりました。昨夜は、薄い夏布団では寒くて目が覚め、ふとい布団を出しました。

テレビをつけて、入ってくるニュースは、台風１２号の被害。紀伊半島の方では、多くの被害、死者が出たようです。

山が崩れてきて、濁流に家ごと飲み込まれたら、逃げようがないでしょう。家にいれば安全というものでもないんですね。洪水になってからでは、逃げる際に、洪水に流される危険もあります。洪水になる前に、安全なところに避難命令、勧告が出ていれば、助かったのかもしれません。

私の住んでいる町も一度大きな台風被害が出ていて、今回も、前回と同じパターンで、長雨の後、台風の直撃で川が氾濫というのが心配されましたが、結果的に台風は少しそれ、川の氾濫はありませんでした。でも、昨日、生徒の一人が、万一に備えて、家の１階の物を２階に上げたと言っていました。大変だったんですね。

災害への備えも必要です。

迅速な復旧がなされることを祈っています。

The pyphoon passed and it has become cold suddenly. I woke up last night feeling cold with a thin blanket, so I took out a thick futon and slept with it.

I turned on TV this morning to find the news about the typhoon damage. It said that there were a lot of damage caused by heavy rain and a heavy loss of lives.

You cannot be escaped if mountains collapse and your house is sucked into the muddy water. It can’t be said that you are safe in your house. Even if you try to escape, there’s a danger of being swept by the flood. They could have been escaped from death if they have been ordered or advised to evacuate to safety places.

My town also suffered from a flood caused by a typhoon once. We were worried about a flood happning again this time, but fortunately the typhoon veered and there was no flood.

One of my students said in yesterday’s lesson that her family carried the things in her house to the second floor just in case. It must have been a hard day.

Lay up for a rainy day and you won’t be sorry.
