産経新聞に出ていた記事ですが、韓国の学生たちのフィリピン語学留学が増えているそうです。

韓国では、英語力がなければ進学も就職もままならないとあって、フィリピン英語留学をする学生の数は年間10万人。フィリピンは費用が安く、留学先として魅力的なのです。冬休みを利用して数週間の語学合宿などというのもあり、一日12時間英語漬けの生活が送れるようです。

私も、そんな生活がしたい。

日本でも、これから、フィリピン人の英語力、費用の安さに目を向けて、学生たちの留学が増えるのではないかと思います。

According to the Sankei newspaper, the number of the Korean students who study English in the Philippines has increased recently.

In Korea, students can’t enter higher-level schools and find good jobs without English ability, and the number of people who study in the Philippines is 100,000 a year. Expenses of studying in the country is low, which is an attractive point when diciding which country to choose. Students use their winter vacation to take some English training courses for a few weeks. They can be exposed themselves to English for twelve hours a day.

I’d like to do it too.

I think more Japanese will turn their eyes to the Filipinos’ high level of English and the low cost, and the number of Japanese students who study in the country will increase. 

「減らす技術」という本を読んだのですが、その中で、朝一番にEメールをチェックしてはいけない。朝一番にもっとも重要な仕事を２つか３つしよう。というのがあったんです。

私は、毎日、一番大事な仕事（レッスンの準備）をする前に、パソコンを開けて、メールをチェックしたり、自分のブログを書いたり、興味あるサイトを読んだりして、つい、３０分~１時間の時間を過ごしていました。

で、今週の初めから、パソコンを開けたいのをぐっとがまんして、　一番しなければならないことから、仕事を片づけていくことにしました。

すると、午前中に１時間の学習時間を作れるようになりました。

昨日は、TOEICの公式問題集を解いてみました。２時間かかりますので、終わったのが１時。頭をめっちゃ、使いますので、その後、頭痛が…。午後は、買い物をして、夕食を作り、子ども英語の準備をして、さて、５時。

生徒が来ません。

あっそうだ。今日は５年生は自然学校でお休みなんだった。助かった～。まだ、頭痛が治ってなかったんです。^^;

夜の中２レッスンは、なんとかがんばりましたが、結局、夜はスカイプレッスンもキャンセルし、学習できずでした。

今日は、昨日の反省を活かして、１２時で学習をやめました。

ところで、昨日やったTOEICの点数は、８３０くらいでした。ガビ～ン。今度の日曜試験だというのに(>_<)

I read a book “The Power of Less”. It says “Don’t check e-mails but do two or three most important things the first thing in the morning.”

I used to turned on my PC in the morning and spend about thirty minutes to one hour  checking e-mails, writing my blog and reading some interesting sites before I started the most important job, preparations for English classes.

I’ve restrained the urge to turn on the PC since this Monday and have decided to finish important work at first. Then I’ve been able to make one hour for English studies.

I tried the trial test for TOEIC yesterday. It’s two-hour test, so I ended it at one in the afternoon. I used my head so hard that I had a bad headache later, but I had to go grocery shopping, cooked dinner and prepared for kids’ English class.

The kids didn’t come. Ah, I’d forgot that they would be absent because of their school’s activities. I was relieved, because I still had a headache.

I got through giving a lesson to junior high school students at night, but I had to cansel Skype lesson and couldn’t study at all.

I ended studying at noon today not to make the same mistake.

By the way, the score of the trial test for TOEIC I did yesterday was around 830. I feel down. I’m taking TOEIC next Sunday, and aiming at 900… Far from it!

今日は、髪を切りました。ずいぶん、伸びていたので、すっきりしました。

I got hair cut today. My hair had grown, so I felt refreshed.

今日は、娘の高校に行って総会に出席し、その後、懇談会に参加し、担任の先生や他の保護者の方とお話をしました。

先生は、パソコンを使って、写真を見せながら、生徒たちの学校や野外活動での様子を説明されました。女の子たちの方が男の子より元気なようです。

それから、話は、ケータイ電話や、インターネットのことに及びました。今では、高校生のほぼ全員がケータイを持っています。多くの親御さんが子どものケータイ電話の使いすぎに関して悩まれているようでした。うちの娘はまだ欲しがらなくて、まだ買ってやっていないので、それに関しての悩みはないのですが、インターネットの使いすぎに困っています。

あるお母さんが、ケータイを夜から朝まで使用出来ないようにしていると言われ、それはいい考えだなと思いました。娘もおそかれ早かれ、持つことになります。ケータイは便利ですが、同時に若者に有害なものにもなります。チェックする時間、回数を決めるとか、賢く使うことを考えないといけませんね。

I went to my daughter’s high school today to attend a general meeting. After that, parents had a talk with their children’s class teachers. 

My daughter’s class teacher told us what her students are doing at school and the school’s events with some pictures using a computer.

We also talked about the use of the cell phones and the Internet. Almost all high school students have a cell phone these days. Many parents seem to be annoyed by their children’s overuse of it. I haven’t bought my daughter the one yet. So, I don’t have to be worried about it now, but I’ve been annoyed by her long use of the internet.

A mother told us that there is a way to restrict the use of the cell phone during night. My daughter will get one soon or later. It’s very cenvenient, but at the same time, harmful to youngsters. We have to think about wise use of it.

中１、２時間レッスンが終わりました。

中１なので、一人一人、ワークの答えをスペルとか丁寧にチェックしますので、とても疲れました

あちこちから、「せんせー。ここ、何？わからへん。」とか「むずー。」の声が飛び交います。

「ちょっと、待って。順番に見るから。」と急ぎつつも、丁寧にみます。

中学生はもうすぐ中間テスト。試験範囲もいつも多く、週に１度だけのレッスンで、学校の授業に合わせていくのは、大変です。特に試験前が。

でも、生徒が良い成績をとってくれるようがんばります。

I finished a two-hour lesson to the first graders of junior high just now.

They started learning English this April and are beginners, so I teach them very kindly and throughly and check their answers in their workbooks one by one. When I finished the class, I felt tired.

Each student says, “Sensei. What’s this? I don’t understand.”"It’s difficult.” It’s so noisy.

I say, “Wait a minute. I’ll check in order.” and check their answers in workbooks as fast and throughly as possible.

Junior high school students are going to take the midterm exam soon. The coverage of exams is always a lot. It’s hard for me to make them keep up with their school’s lessons by giving them only one lesson a week. Especially, before the test.

I’ll do my best in order to see my students get high grades in English. 

またまたTEDの動画です。英語が聞き取りやすく、かつ、内容も面白いし、洗濯機を例にとって、貧困、エネルギー、人口問題がわかりやすく説明されています。

 TED again. His English is easy and interesting. He talks simply the problem of poverty, energy and popularion by taking a washing machine as an example.

この女性は、泣きながら話をしているように私には思えます。でも、それは、悲しくて泣いているのではなく、自分の障害を受け入れて、より強くなれた自分への賞賛の涙と思います。

泣きながらでも、こんなにしっかり話が出来るなんて…。

この人の困難を克服する力を考えると、私の悩みなんてちっぽけなものに思えます。

She seems to be talking with inside tears. It’s not sad tears but hot ones. She has accepted her handcap and has become truly stronger.

I admire her strength of being able to talk wonderfully with inside tears.

How small my troubles are thinking of her power to overcome difficulties! 

昨日は、英検4級、今日は、英検3級の模試を実施しました。これで、今回は全部終了しました。実施した級は、４級・３級・準2級・２級です。英検模試は、だいたい土日に行い、休みがつぶれるので、大変なのですが、生徒のために頑張ってます。

英検の模擬テストをすると、生徒の実力が客観的にわかるので、何を重点的に教えればいいかわかるので、レッスンに役立ちます。

それに、思っていたよりいい点が取れたりすると、それが励みになってがんばる子も出てきます。反対に、悪いと悔し涙を流す生徒もいて、そんな子もそれをばねにがんばってくれます。口で「勉強しなさい。」というより、よほど、効果があるんです。そんな時、がんばってあげて良かったなって思います。

受験を決めた生徒は、１ヶ月後の本番に向けてがんばってね。

I give some of my students the trial tests for the 4th grade and the 5th grade of Eiken yesterday and today. This ended all the tests : 4th, 3rd, pre-2nd and 2nd. I do it mostly on Saturday or Sunday, so I can’t take a rest during the weekend, but I make an effort for the best of my students.

It’s useful to my lessons to understand my students’ proficiency at English by the results of the Eiken. I can teach their weak points predorminantly.

Some students who get more grades than they expected are glad and study more. Some who don’t shed tears of bitter disappointment and use the frustration they feel as a springboard to try harder. It’s much more incentive for them than just being said, “Study hard.” It’s rewarding for me to see them be motivated to study more.

Do your best for those who have decided to take the test in a month.

 

アジザちゃん、今4才です。

I support financially a little girl in Tanzania through World Vision. World Vision sent me an e-mail to give us some messages from the children in the world. There’s a message from Tanzania too.

They are worried about Japan which have suffered from a huge earthquake and tsunami in spite of the difficulties they have in their lives.

I got a letter from my child in Tanzania today. It has enclosed a picture of her family. Sorry to say I’m a poor correspondent and have sent her only two letters. I will definitely reply to her.
